In New Jersey, if the bride lives in New Jersey, the marriage license must be applied for in
her hometown. If the bride does not live in New Jersey and the groom does, the license is
applied for in his hometown. If neither the groom or bride are residents of New Jersey, the
license must be applied for in the municipality where the ceremony will take place. The
license must be applied for 72 hours in advance, and it is good for 6 months from the date
issued. After the ceremony, the officiant returns signed documents to the registrar of the
municipality where the ceremony was conducted, regardless of the issuing municipality.
Be sure you double check that you have everything you need before you go.

You will need to contact the Registrar of Vital Statistics to apply for your license. To get a
certified copy of your marriage license after you are married, you need to contact the registrar
in the municipality where your ceremony was performed.

One of the most thorough sites for planning your wedding is at WedAlert. They have a huge
collection of wedding music for you to sample. Check out their local New Jersey site here:

My favorite place to plan a wedding in New Jersey is at NJWedding.com. The site is broken
down by regions: Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey. This helps speed your planning
by limiting your results to vendors who serve your area. Vendors here also pay to be listed, so,
unlike the other sites, all the vendors listed here are professionals. This will help you choose
reputable businesses.
I love NJWedding.com because it's run by people from New Jersey who understand New
Jersey. Check out their new beach weddings page, too.
I also highly recommend OneWed.com to help you find vendors in the state. A lot of the links are
dead as you go further down the pages for vendors. They also have some good articles on
wedding planning worth checking out.
